Friday evening at midnight people in Camrose might have noticed a gust of wind blowing through the city. It wasn't a new weather system, but my huge sigh of relief with the successful completion of our Harvest Gala event.
Our intent this year was to create an atmosphere of hope and impact in the room. Over 200 people joined us and we heard many positive comments.
As an organization we hope that people give to support our mission out of hope rather than guilt. We think that happened on Friday night. People gave David Samm a standing ovation for his incredible donation of a travel voucher to one of our staff. We heard from Shawn Mackinnon about his experiences as a youth and how important it is for someone to care. We laughed with Otto Streberg as he auctioned off the generous donations of items for our auction and with the great improv from Rapid Fire Theatre. We heard many times that the decor was amazing thatnks to the work of Ashley Morton.
We are here to work to achieve our mission of meeting the needs of youth who find themselves at risk. We are not professional event planners but we saw the impact a positive event experience can have and thank you for your support.
