What are some reasons youth or young adults may be homeless?
There are many reasons why youth find themselves homeless. Some reasons can include family violence or abuse, addictions, mental health, or neglect. Sometimes, people just don’t get along and they need a break from each other. The Open Door is here for all those times.
What are your most needed items?
A great way to support the Open Door is with gift cards. Grocery gift cards can help us buy food for shelter, as well as for outreach at our office. They also are good for clients living independently to assist with purchasing food. Other gift cards for clothing, houseware, or activity passes are also very helpful.
Other items that we are always in need of are single serving food items. We have these at our office for youth so that they can take them to school or work or stop by and have something to eat. Examples include frozen dinners, cup of soups, KD cups, and granola bars, etc.
Where is your shelter?
Due to confidentiality we cannot disclose the location of our shelter.
